10-10-2011 // Monday Morning Kick-Off: [MM-KO] DJ Shadow - Border Crossing

Waking up on Monday Morning with DJ Shadow is a fine thing to do.It gives a great kickstart for the 1st day of another loooong week. But this is also the early prelude of the next weekend to come, which will make you forget all about the week. Have a good week, blast your Monday Morning Hangover away with this great track!

07-10-2011 // EP: Vermilion Club - Sidewalk Ecology

in 2010 Vermilion Club relased 'Home', an album full of wonderful songs, which i discovered earlier this year (in May) and listening to it now again, i have to admit it deserved more attention and words on my part over the 3 lines i spent on it back then.

To make up for it and because this new 3-track EP is very good, please take 15 minutes to make yourself enjoy their latest work, released on August 13th. It''s called 'Sidewalk Ecology' and no matter how i try i can't figure out which one of these 3 songs is the best. They're all extremely well-crafted. In my defense for writing only 3 lines in May and taking more time for this new release, it's fair to say that Vermilion Club has definately made progress. The 2010-release was a little bit too much of the same to hold my attention for the entire album, but this EP is a compact collection of 3 beautiful tracks, that only asks to be played over and over again. A request gladly granted.

04-10-2011 // Plug in, Baby!: [Mixtape] Best of 2011 - Part Three

Another 3 months have flown by and just like that it's October and Autumn is here. Before we head into the cold and dark, yet romantic & special time that is ahead of us, let us look back one more time on what great music the Summer brought is. Although i have to admit most music would be better off in the coming period, as there is not a lot of dancing to be done with these tunes. Check out a collected file with my 14 favourite songs & check out another 4 great tunes (that i was not able to add to the file) below. I can honestly say that September was the best Music Month of the year and it was very tempting to add more and more songs to this collection, but 18 is a little bit too much for my taste already, so this is it. Enjoy & share with friends, these musicians deserve to be heard!

Angel Olsen - Creator, Destroyer (live)

Youth Lagoon - Montana

CANT - Believe

Lotus - Blacklight Sunflare

03-10-2011 // EP: Toy Camera - Blissful Youth

There are moments on this 5-track EP that make me wonder why i keep playing it. Because these moments are uninspired, 13-in-a-dozen, dull. But there are also moments that make me dance, 'sing'-a-long & smile when i listen to this September-release by Toy Camera. It has taken me a week or so to conclude, that i keep coming back to this and keep enjoying this for all the right reasons; it's just a good set of songs. My favourite track Tall Trees sounded worst of all for some silly reason while typing this, but that'll basically mean i liked the rest of the EP even better this last spin. Toy Camera makes great midnight music, even when it's only half past 10. Or 7 in the morning, or lunch time. Toy Camera just makes great music.

03-10-2011 // Monday Morning Kick-Off: [MM-KO] Girls – Honey Bunny

Having a good week has nothing to do with a good start of the Monday Morning, yet it is extremely important to start this 1st day off with a great track to get you into the working hythm again. I'm a little slow today and will be late for work, but i had to share this great Girls-track. It has a great 70s-vibe without sounding ancient and it's all i've heard since i got out off bed 40 minutes ago. Have a good week!

28-09-2011 // EP: Julia Sinclair - Slow And Steady

Julia Sinclair has released a 4-track EP which you get for free at her website and it's a good one. She has a strong, yet vulnerable voice which sometimes sounds like it's gonna crack. but it never does. she writes simple songs with just her voice and guitar, the lyrics ain't new or brilliant. but it works. sometimes it just does. Julia Sinclair's guitar skills are more advanced than one might expect based on the "girl-with-guitar" type that she clearly is and this is what uplifts her above the average, although that specific, clear, beautiful voice surely puts in some weight. Slow and Steady is the EP-title as well as the finest song on this album, but please don't stop listening after the opener, the rest is just as special.

26-09-2011 // Monday Morning Kick-Off: [MM-KO] Villa Rosa - Leader Of The Pack

Let's celebrate the beginning of a new week with this fine party track by hiphop-duo Villa Rosa. It's perfect for the little after-Summervibe we got going on in this country and it makes me wanna hang around in the sun with a cocktail.. who knows what i'll be doing tonight..? Have a good week!

25-09-2011 // Album: Hooded Fang - Tosta Mista

It's been silent for a few days on the blog, but not in the house. Most played record was "Tosta Mista" by Hooded Fang, a 6-piece band with influences from all over the timescale. Last century's 60s & 70s are probably most represented and they're making their own great sound of all of this. This album has FUN written all over it, they had fun playing the music, and it's good fun listening to it. With the shitty mood i'm in, this is a perfect album to keep me going. Singing & dancing guaranteed with this!

19-09-2011 // Monday Morning Kick-Off: [MM-KO] Friends Electric - Puzzle Pieces

Another Monday, another Monday Morning Kick-Off. The new (and greatest) single by Friends Electric is called Puzzle Pieces and it's a great danceable party-track to start off the week with. Just before you go into meetings, fix new problems, meet new customers or do whatever it is that you do, you get to dance once more to remember the great weekend with this good track. The single will be released on October 24th, get it if you've danced to it this dull Monday morning. Have a good week!
